Preparing an application change with production teams
The EBMC GROUP team
An application change also concerns the teams that run the tools and answer users. Involving them in the preparation brings constraints to light before the work takes place.
01
Identify dependencies
Describe the applications, interfaces and flows involved. Specify the exchanges with other systems and who to contact with questions.
This information must be understandable by the teams who will handle the follow-up.
02
Prepare approvals
Agree on the checks to perform and on responsibilities. Expected results make it possible to tell a step that is complete from a step that has merely been executed.
Implementation and rollback arrangements are defined according to the organisation’s procedures.
03
Give support the information it needs
Explain what changes for users, the difficulties already known and how to escalate. Short, accessible documentation helps teams handle the first requests.
04
Observe after go-live
Prepare the checks and exchanges needed after the change. Feedback from users and support helps identify the topics to revisit.
The change thus continues into day-to-day operations, with information shared between project and production.
